Boasting gorgeous views, delicious seafood, local port wine, and colorful buildings, Lisbon did not disappoint!
Lisbon was even more than we imagined – we ate our way through the city by trying our fair share of delicious fish (including the traditional whole grilled sardines), prosciutto, cheese, pizza, bread, pasta, and pasteis de nata (custard tart). We sampled all of the local beverages we could get our hands on: daily cappuccinos, local wine (including port), sangria, and beer. We also drank the famous ginjinha, which is a Portugese liqueur made with ginja berries, served exclusively by street vendors, where the only choice is if you like your shot with or without the cherry-like berries in your glass.
The AirBnb we stayed at was in the Bairro Alto district where the nightlife was vibrant and borderline manic (think ambulance and police everywhere, sirens sounding every few minutes – we woke up one morning and the streets were covered in trash, people were doing the “walk-of-shame,” and someone had literally snapped a motorized scooter in half that was laying in the middle of the sidewalk). We tried to experience the nightlife, but we called it quits by midnight every evening because we just can’t hang like we used to. The bars apparently don’t start ramping up in energy until about 1am.
We went to the Time Out Market, Oceanário de Lisboa, Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara, and Pink Street among other cool spots of interest. We also experienced the Lisbon sunset from a sailboat ride along the Tagus River which was absolutely gorgeous. 10/10 recommend.

We were lucky enough to spend three days in Lisbon, but there was so much more we could have explored in the city, as well as the rest of the country. We will be back, Lisboa!
